The Brionnais area
The Brionnais is a small and discreet place right in the heart of France, in the south of Burgundy. A bosky bower gently sloping, from the Beaujolais hills on the east side to the Madeleine mounts on the west side, in the meanders of the river Loire. A haven of quietness, somewhere in the bocage, to the south of Digoin, the north of Roanne, the west of Mâcon and the east of Vichy. A garden pinned with Romanesque blond churches, look-outs indicating small villages whose roofs are covered with scales or red tiles.
